Plumeria obtusa, commonly known as Frangipani or Temple Tree, is a striking ornamental tree native to tropical regions. In UAE gardens, it is valued for its robust, thick stems and lush green foliage that gives an instant tropical feel.
The leaves are spirally arranged, lance-shaped, slightly wrinkled, and can grow up to 30 cm long, with a soft texture on the underside. Its flowers are the highlight—clusters of white blooms with bright yellow centers, about 6 cm wide, appearing in terminal panicles. These blooms are highly fragrant, especially in the evening, and are produced continuously from summer to autumn.
Compact in size, Plumeria obtusa is perfect for smaller gardens, courtyards, or as an accent plant in larger landscapes. It thrives in warm climates, tolerates drought once established, and grows best in full sun with well-drained soil.
